31st Wedding Anniversary

We almost forgot about our special day, but I suddenly remembered while I was blogging and saw the computer date. I immediately called Ryan and reminded him. We ended up going out to our local Chinese Restaurant for dinner. He gave me a case of diet Pepsi and I gave him a Jib Jab staring himself as a Olympic diver, which I will post on my blog. By the way, this is us on August 19, 1977.

My Double or Twin

Back in 1974 several people thought Patty Hearst was hiding out at Model Cleaners in Idaho Falls, Idaho, but it was only me. Apparently I looked a lot like her at the time and everybody let me know it. This quickly became one of my pet peeves. In case you don't know her history, here it is in a nut shell: She was arrested in 1975 for armed robbery and was said to be involved in Liberation army( organized terrorist group) who supposedly kidnapped her, brainwashed her and forced her to do all these terrible things. The FBI was searching for her for over a year. Her pictures were all over the new papers and on magazine racks during that year and during her trial. She was also famous because she was the daughter of millionaire Randolph Hearst and granddaughter to William Randolph Hearst (multi millionaire). So why does she get involved in armed robbery? Duh! She was eventually convicted and sentenced to 7 years in prison, she was released in 2 years, thanks to President Jimmy Carter. President Clinton also gave her a full pardon while he was President of the United States. I recently saw a article of her on the Internet and it reminded me of my haunting past. I wish I had a dollar for every time someone said, "Did you know you look like Patty Hearst? I would be a millionaire too. What do you think? This is the only picture I can think of that even comes close. No, I'm not drinking alcohol! I'm actually doing homework in my dorm room at Rick's College. My roommates thought it would be funny to take a picture of me holding a beer so they could send it to my missionary, which happens to also be my husband, sweetheart, and father to my three wonderful children. I used to hate this picture but now it looks fabulous to me. It proves that I was actually skinny at one time in my life. "Ah, the good ole days."

Teddy Bears on Parade

Nicole, this is for you. Pictures taken of me and our high school drill team during my Sophomore year(1971-72). Unfortunately, these are the only pictures that I could find but, I know there are a few more in the basement storage room. Yes, Teddy Bears is a strange name for a drill team. I wonder if they have changed the name since then. What would you call them? Grizzettes?

What do you do in the summer time?

I practically lived in this pool during the summer. When you hear my story you'll know why. I remember those days, having to earn every penny along the way. My first summer job was far beyond the worst ever. The environment was exhausting, I had to stand(mostly sit) in the hot sun all day long, just wishing and hoping a kind stranger would stop to buy my delicious, warm, and tasty homemade punch (koolaide). After a long day at the office I had to spend my free time gathering soda bottles from all the neighbors, then I had to travel several miles pushing and pulling my trusty red wagon up hill both ways, just so I could trade my valuables in for enough money to buy the necessities ( candy, bubble gum, and liquorice ropes.) I sure hope kids appreciate how easy they have it now days. Why? Because: Grandpa and Grandma love to spoil the grand kids. We thoroughly enjoyed watching Kennedy, Tate, and Tia having a fabulous time in Pa Pa and Granny's backyard. The look on their faces and Kennedy's comment; " This is the best day of my life" made the purchase totally worth every penny we spent. The moral of the Story: Grandparents are suckers!!

High School Graduation

This was me 34 years ago. Skyline Grizzlies Class of 74, Idaho Falls, Idaho. I enjoyed highschool for the most part, however I have to admit that academics were not my top priority. It was more about the extra curricular activities.

I loved being a member of the (SkylineTeddy Bears) which was the name of the highschool drill team. I give my friends the credit for encouraging me to try out. I'm so glad I did, even though it meant being at school by 6:30 a.m. I loved marching(yes that's what we called it)in the summer parades even though it was so hot! We also performed at football and basketball games. During homecoming week, we played powerpuff football against the pep club and won every year. Although, I'm sure I didn't contribute much because I didn't even understand the terminology. I especially looked forward to drill team competitions, particularly the ones in Boise, Idaho. Wow, we even got to stay in hotels. The yellow school bus was always our transportation.

Our competions were always strickly military,(our dance team did all the dancing). Our hometown rivalry included: the Idaho Falls Tigerettes and the Bonneville Honey Bees. However, it was a Utah team called the Cypress Spinakers that always took 1st place at the Boise competition. They used real swords in their routines and that always impressed the judges even though they did the same thing every year. Therefore, coming in 2nd was usually considered an honor. Of course, the best part of all of this was the friends I made, or maybe it was having my name and picture in the newspaper. Just Kidding!!! Tah,Tah for now. Don't worry there are future highschool adventures and pictures to come

Kinsley Sage Woolf

Our little Kinsley had her 1 month birthday yesterday. Grandma Renee spent the afternoon holding her. She is such a cuddle bug and I've never seen a baby who smiles as much as she does at this age. I know they say she is too young, but she always looks so happy and I swear I've even heard her giggle. I just think she is a very smart baby and also a good one! Yesterday, I changed her diaper twice while she was asleep and she didn't even cry. Her parents tell us the only time she cries is when she is hungry. She came to us on March 17th and was 7 lb 14oz and 191/2 inches long. We love her so very much and appreciate all her mother went through to get her into this world. We also appreciate all she does now, Wendy is a wonderful mother and wife to our Brandon. We are so happy for them and their family. I don' t think I've ever seen Brandon so happy and content with his life. Kinsley is definitely a blessing to us all.
